Although accessibility has been a hot topic of dev conferences and meetups for the last couple of years, most websites are not fully optimised for assistive technologies. This is because accessibility seems to be a vast and difficult matter for developers. We simply do not fully understand what has to be covered or how to verify it in the first place.
This talk will walk us through the true story of me starting with accessibility, by creating a test suite. I’m going to explain when it’s most optimal to start such a journey. We will identify what to test effectively as well as how it can get automated. What are the good patterns and how it will make you more a11y-aware during everyday development.
