DataFrame - a Swiss Army Knife of Java Data Processing
This talk introduces the DataFrame structure from the open-source DFLib library, simplifying data tasks like ETL, log analysis, and Excel file reading in Java. It highlights lightweight DataFrame objects and exotic techniques like Jupyter notebooks and visual charting, negating the need for Python or big data stacks for data processing.

If you ever needed to write an ETL job, analyze your logs or even just read an Excel file, you may have discovered that it is not easy with “standard” Java. So, do you need to switch to Python or deploy on a “big data” stack like Spark or Flink for data processing?
This talk is about DataFrame data structure that handles the above and many other data tasks. It will demonstrate a lightweight DataFrame object from the open-source DFLib library (https://dflib.org) and a couple of extra techniques that are still somewhat exotic in Java, such as Jupyter notebooks and visual charting. You will not have to learn Python after all to be a data engineer!
